New Testament Bible Prophecy of the end times:
The Words of Jesus regarding the last days.
Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be
earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines
and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Matthew 24:34
Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mark 13:30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not
pass, till all these things be done.
According to the Word
of our Lord, from the time span from the beginning of the signs
given by Jesus until His return to earth will take place in the lifetime of one generation.
Average
life expectancy of this generation alive today: 77.9 years
I believe "this generation"
that "shall not
pass" spoken of by Jesus is alive today. I
also believe the restoration of Israel as a nation in the
year 1948 began our prophetic last generation time
clock.
Can we know the day or the
hour of Jesus' return? NO.
Jesus said that no one would know the
day or hour of
His return;
Matthew 24:36 But
of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the
angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at
an hour when ye think not.
Can we know
the season that Jesus is going to return? Yes.
First let's clear the air on an issue that has caused many
to not look for a season of Jesus return, that being a misunderstanding
of the question asked by the disciples in Acts
1:6 and Acts 1:7
Acts 1:6 Lord,
wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to
Israel?
Some mistakenly believe that the disciples were
referring to the return of Jesus at the end of the
age in the above passage of scripture.
Consider: How could they be saying "when will you
return" when he was standing right before them. He
had not left yet. When in actuality, they were asking Him
if he was going to restore Israel as a kingdom, and make
Himself ruler over the newly restored kingdom of Israel
"AT THIS TIME" (then).
Since the first Old testament yearning for Messiah the
restoration of Israel as a Kingdom had been on the minds
and hearts of the Hebrews. They wanted a King, a political
ruler, someone to make them a strong and wealthy nation.
One of the reasons the Jews rejected Jesus was due to His
not being the nationalistic politician they demanded of
their King. Jesus said His Kingdom was not of this world,
and told them matter of fact to accept the rule of Rome
and its Caesar when He said; "Render to Caesar the
things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are
God's".
So, in answer to the disciples asking if Jesus was about
to proclaim Himself as King of what they hoped would be
the soon newly restored kingdom of Israel; Jesus said:
Acts 1:7 And
he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or
the seasons (of when Israel
will be restored), which the
Father hath put in his own power.
Jesus could foresee the
destruction of Jerusalem that would take place in 70AD as
He had referred to it in Mathew 2:18. He certainly could
not tell them that Israel would be restored as a kingdom
at that time.
The
disciples obviously were not asking "when will you
return, Jesus", and His reply regarding them not
being allowed to know the seasons does not apply to
an entirely different subject matter of His return at the
end of the age.
However, Jesus did say that we could recognize the
season of His return at the end of the age:
Matthew 24:32
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and
puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh:
Matthew 24:33
So likewise you, when ye shall see all these
things
(signs), know that
it is near, even at the doors.
Jesus
said we cannot know the day of His return.
Jesus said we cannot know the hour of His return.
Jesus did not say we would not recognize the season
of His return.
Jesus did say there would be signs to look for of His soon
return.
Jesus said these signs would be visible to us if we are
looking for His return.
Jesus said we can depend on these these signs as surely as
summer follows spring.
Jesus said the signs would begin and He would return
within the lifetime of one generation.
My
friends in Christ, the signs have already begun, they are
happening all around us.
Those today that don't believe
that Jesus is about to return are spoken of in Bible
prophecy:
2Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own
lusts
2Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as
they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Peter 3:5 For this they willingly
are ignorant
